Vegas Is Not All Drinking

I recently graduated from college (I know, hard to believe right) and my parents took me to Vegas, Nevada to celebrate! We went with close family friends and stayed from Dec. 16^th to early in the morning the 20^th. And since we live in a state where casinos are illegal (thanks, Nebraska) we made sure to hit the gambling hard, but Vegas has more to offer than drinking and gambling.

For starters, we had fun walking around and looking at all the different hotels near us. We stayed at the Luxor (which has an Egyptian theme and is shaped like a pyramid).

Besides our own hotel, we managed to see :

The Bellagio

• they have a short but powerful fountain show, you might have seen this on T.V. or social media as it’s quite iconic

MGM Grand

• they have a nice arcade set up on the main floor and this is where we saw Cirque Du Soleil KA

New York-New York

• a small replica of the big apple with a “big apple” roller coaster $15 per person for the ride but worth is as it takes you upside down and spins you around until you feel like you might puke (at least that happened to me)

The Venetian

• this hotel was probably one of my favorites as it tries to duplicate Venice, complete with a sky-painted ceiling and gondola rides

The Cosmopolitan

• when I first thought of Vegas, this would be the hotel that would typically come to mind – it is glamour, high fashion, expensive and sophisticated

Caesars Palace

• another favorite hotel of mine because of its interest in Rome, statues and fountains

Mandalay Bay

• this was just close to the Luxor and we always ended up stopping at it briefly because of how the tram works

Our list of things that we did includes :

Walking down Fremont Street

• because our parents wanted to give us an authentic Vegas experiences

Going to the Neon Museum

• home to all the worn out neon signs on Vegas’s past $20 or $15 to students

High Roller

• this enclosed, giant Ferris Wheel takes you 550 feet up to see almost all of the strip (my recommendation, go at night!)

And finally, seeing the Hoover Dam

• we rented a car on our last day and drove the 45 mins to Hoover Dam, walked along the perimeter for a while and then drove the 45 mins back in time to catch our departing flight

I had a lot of fun drinking, gambling and exploring and the short getaway was just what I needed, but I don’t think I could do any more days in Vegas. S/O to my parents, friends and the covenant buffalo game that made this trip memorable.
